“Understanding the Names of GOD: the Revealing of God’s Character”

“The English word for “God” has become a source of confusion for Christians since at least the Anglo-Saxon era. Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary says that the origin of the word ‘god’ comes from a Germanic word ‘gad,’ pronounced as ‘gohdt.’

God” is a most general term and can in many cases limit our view on God our Father and His Supreme Deity. The Israelites never called God ‘Gad’, they when referring to Him would always refer to Him in regard to what He had done for them, or what He was about to do.
