Day 35: DIRECTION

Today’s principle focus is on receiving direction.

Scripture of the day:

Dear friend, listen well to my words; tune your ears to my voice. Keep my message in plain view at all times. Concentrate! Learn it by heart! Those who discover these words live, really live; body and soul, they’re bursting with health. Proverbs 4:20 [MSG]

Today’s Positive Words of Affirmation and Encouraging Words to Live By:

“Today is the day that I decide to hear from God. I will go directly to Him and trust His every Word.”

GOD WILL NEVER GIVE MARRIED COUPLES OPPOSING COUNSEL

I have always believed very highly and definitely about praying, and waiting on hearing a personal Word from God before making any decisions. Today is a day to revisit our need to pray and wait for God’s Divine Direction for our lives.

Often I have recommended in the past to those who have no direction, to lock themselves in their closets and not come out until the Lord has given them something to focus on. Often, I myself have found myself prostrate on the floor, tasting the bitter taste of carpet fiber as I wait and wait on Him for my next steps.

In the counseling of married persons, it has been very difficult for some to swallow the fact that individual (husband or wife), can pray directly to God for direction, and still be found in submission and unity towards each other. I am here today to encourage you that God will never give married couples opposing counsel. Therefore, do not be afraid to go into prayer separately to seek Him and His direction. This is a very encouraging word to those who are single, and without a mate, since they will know that God talks to all of us as individuals. Our spouses then become the “affirming” word, and as a team we can boldly go in the same direction. Singles, can join forces without dispute, to God!

I do not want you to take just my word for it however, I would like to share with you an except from a book I am reading, Evidence Not Seen; A Woman’s Miraculous Faith in the Jungles of World War II by Ms. Darlene Deibler Rose. Darlene and Dr. Jaffray explain this concept, far better than I ever could.

Darlene Deibler Rose and her husband Russell, were missionaries sent to minister to the far off tribes of New Guinea. Darlene and her husband arrived in the Netherlands East Indies before the Japanese occupation of the East Indies during World War II. At one point the couples in the company were directed by their Overseer to make a vital decision, and here is the incident in her own words:

“On a Wednesday, a Dutch policeman came to Benteng Tinggi from Malino to inform us that they had a ship lying at anchor on the south coast. They wanted to evacuate all foreigners and all Dutch women and children who wished to go. A truck would call for us on Friday, so we should be ready.

As we gathered for prayer, Dr. Jaffray said, “I want to counsel you not to discuss this decision that must be made with each other- not even husband and wife. Go to your knees and say, ‘Lord, what do you want me to do? Shall I go, or shall I stay?’ This is extremely vital, because then no matter what happens in the months or possibly years that lie ahead, you will know that you are exactly where God wants you to be. If He leads you to leave, you’ll never feel that you were a coward and fled. If you are led to stay, no matter what happens  you can look up and say, ‘Lord, you intended for me to be right here.'” We earnestly sought guidance.

When the truck arrived on Friday, there was not a person among us who felt led to leave. As Dr. Jaffray had said, “God does not work in confusion, a wife against a husband or vice versa, in a matter that concerns both of you. This is but a confirmation to your hearts of His directive.”

Some three days later, it was reported that the ship had been torpedoed and sunk. There were no known survivors. Then I knew why God had said, “Don’t go.” It is imperative that we know the voice of the Shepherd and learn to follow Him when He speaks. We must be obedient, no matter what He says to us; it may even mean your life.” pg.41

“GOD DOES NOT WORK IN CONFUSION”

How many times have you thought of the survivors of the Sept. 11 attack on America? 1, 100, 1,000 times perhaps more? I constantly choose to remind myself of the man who decided to take his son to his first day of Kindergarten, instead of heading into the office. I can see in my minds eye the loving father holding his sons hand and walking through the fall leaves of New York City crunching under his feet. I can see them smiling and laughing at each other, the boy nervous with anticipation. Successfully arriving at school, the man has kissed his boy and returned home, only to find out that his office no longer exists. His decision to follow his heart, and the impulsive desire to be with his child, had spared his life!

This testimony is only one of many. The airplanes should have been full, the towers should have been stacked! But many men and women, listened, obeyed, and lived to tell the tales. God never works in confusion. Today is a day for us all to recommit our lives to listen to God, and allow Him to lead us, “it may even mean our lives.”

My Prayer today,

Father God, be with Your children. Remind them of Your scripture that says, “Return unto Me and I will return unto you.” When we are not in Your presence we are living a life of sin, for to be living without You, is to be living a life devoted to the enemy. Today, Lord, open our ears as we return unto You!

Thank You Lord  that You are not only a forgiving God, You are a forgetting God! Your Word states, “For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” (Jeremiah 31:34) Thank you Lord that today, we can ask You for forgiveness and You will forgive and FORGET our sins! Direct us Father, direct us TODAY! Direct us in unity and on purpose!

Thank You Father that Your Word not only comes with direction, but with promise. You have said that as we return to You and seek You for whatever we ask, You will give it to us! Praise You Jesus, that You are an engaging God! A God who delights in us! “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.” (John 15:7) Thank You for establishing us in YOU. Thank You for Your Divine Direction in our lives, in Your Son Jesus’ name, we pray AMEN!

May the Lord begin to direct your paths today, today- the first day of the rest of your life!

Love Always,

Jessica

Did you know??

That many men and women throughout history have prayed and received Divine guidance, right when they needed it most. History tells us of brave men and women who followed God’s direction from as far back as; Moses, to Joshua, to King David, Jesus, the Disciples, and into more modern times with Joan of Arc, Modern Day Missionaries, fellows such as Billy Graham, Abraham Lincoln, etc. Men and women who have devoted their lives to hearing directly from God, have certainly gone on to make a huge and impact-full difference upon humanity. A lying witness shall perish: an obedient man shall speak of victory! Proverbs 21:28 DRB

“Heaven will be inherited by every man who has heaven in his soul.” -Henry Ward Beecher

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched…but are felt in the heart.” -Helen Keller
