Today’s principle focus is on getting excited!!

Scripture of the day:

“He paws fiercely, rejoicing in his strength, and charges into the fray. He laughs at fear, afraid of nothing; he does not shy away from the sword. The quiver rattles against his side, along with the flashing spear and lance. In frenzied excitement he eats up the ground; he cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds!

At the blast of the trumpet he snorts, ‘Aha!’ He catches the scent of battle from afar, the shout of commanders and the battle cry.” Job 39:21-25

Today’s Positive Words of Affirmation and Encouraging Words to Live By:

“Today I will get excited! I will look forward to making a giving and making a living! God has prepared me, and I am ready for battle!”

I have observed recently two odd and yet poignant things; first satan worshipers need to go to the bank, and drug dealers go to Starbucks (an American coffee house). Around 4 weeks ago, I was witness to quite the parallel. Jeff and I had driven to the bank to withdraw some money. We went to an outside automatic teller and there stood two ATM machines. Of course they were a couple of feet apart, but still the resided side by side. I witnessed the oddest thing, as I was in the car.

Jeff had gotten out of the drivers side joyfully humming a little tune and walked up to the right ATM and begun to do his “business”. As I was watching him, dark an ominous man began approaching from the left. He had long dark hair, a full beard and a black T-shirt that said “satan’s army” on it complete with the circle-star pentagram in the middle. This obvious satan follower went to the left ATM, and I sat in awe! There you had it, a Holy Spirit filled, sanctified man-of-God, and a devil worshiper side by side! Money had brought them together for the briefest moment! What a sight! What a revelation that the Lord had showed me… those who worship satan, and those who worship God BOTH need to “make a living”!

As if I didn’t need more convincing of the utilitarian nature of money, and making a living, today I went to Starbucks and as I had my hands full of baby, coffee, and breakfast an apparent drug dealer-typed-man opened the door for me as I exited. I said, “thank you” for his chivalry.

Not a fond believer in profiling at all the man did have all of the evident markings of “drug dealer” in his appearance. Scars, fine and fancy clothes, gold necklaces, cologne…etc. It wasn’t until I saw his Cadillac car with all the gold appointments and gold hubcaps that I considered yes, certainly he could be profiled into dealing drugs, or prostitution/pimping. However, whether I was wrongly mentally labeling him, or not I was again convinced that if satan worshippers need to make a living, and use money to live, and drug dealers use their “loot” to go to Starbucks along with men and women of God… well then money MUST just be a tool and we need more Christians to get excited about God and His direction in using it!

Please understand me when I say, that we need to get excited about making a living, I do not mean, nor would I ever say that we need to get excited about making money. What we need to get excited about is adding value to society, and being in God’s image in the Marketplace, an example towards others of righteousness in action. We need to begin to kill boredom with excellence, and allow God to use the finances that He brings us to spread the Gospel to both the sinner and the Saint. If the local coffee house that sells millions, is not Christ centered- why not? If the hottest selling music single is not about Jesus, why not? Nothing says that we should not be excited about making a difference in the Marketplace, as a matter of fact scripture says:

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. Col 3:23

I would like to share with you an excerpt from Dr. Norman Vincent Peales book written in 1974 pgs. 170-171, You Can if You Think You Can:

“A newspaper writer claims that we are in the midst of a “boredom epidemic.” He says in part:

Behavioral scientists make a strong case that chronic boredom is epidemic in our industrial society. They call ours “the land of the free and the home of the bored.”

Most psychologists agree, boredom is simply our emotional reaction to monotony.

Monotony permeates America today. Our superhighways are monotonous, Our supermarkets are monotonous. Our supercities are monotonous. Our supercoperations are dull places to work, for white and blue collar alike. Our leisure-time activities are often boring too.

“Most of my patients come to me simply because they are bored,” says a psychiatrist.

Actor George Sanders left a note citing boredom as a reason for his suicide.

“You get kind of numb,” says Dale Sirakis, describing his assembly-line work. Every 40 seconds or so, all day long, Sirakis’ sole duty is to snap a hook to the outside of a moving auto body. Psychiatrists say that if you are chronically bored, you are a bore.”

Dr. Peale very eloquently goes on to encourage us to step out of the mold, get creative and get excited again! Ask God to show us where and how we can branch out into exciting new endeavors and break the spirit of monotony in our lives. He explains that those who have a zeal for life and are truly excited each day, renewed with Gods Word that says, “Rejoice with unutterable and exalted joy.” 1 Peter 1:8 RSV can not help but succeed!

As Christians, we should be the liveliest and excited family on this earth! We have God within us! Each step we take, is a God-type-step, each breath we breathe is a God-type-breath, each sight we see is with God-type-vision, and each move we make is a God-type-move! Why on earth would we be down-trodden?

It is time today to eliminate boredom from our vocabulary and get excited about giving, living, and making a great life TODAY IS THE DAY, WE WILL REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN IT!

My Prayer Today,

Father God, stir up the spirits of Your people, get them excited! Get them excited again to go out and represent You in the Marketplace. You have shown me through the addicts and devil worshippers of this world, that money means very little to You. Not only can it do things for You, but it can do things against You. While Your Word and Your Son join us together in the Spirit, You have used the monetary system of checks and balances to unify us in the flesh. You have brought the sinner and the saint together in one place, the bank. Show us today Father how we can begin to be excited again making a living for You, so that the next time we are at the banks of this world, along with the sinner- we need not hold our head in shame. Bless us Father, excite us Father that we may be able to win the souls of others by making You look good… really really good. The BEST! Jabez our brother prayed, “Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that it not be to my sorrow!” And that You granted him that which he requested. Humble us Lord in Your awesome power, keep us Godly minded, and fulfill Your purpose in us. Thank You Lord for getting me excited today Lord, excited to do my BEST and thank You for exciting me today Lord towards making a positive impact on my family, by being able to provide for my family a great life! A life in YOU! In Your Son Jesus’ name, AMEN!

May the Lord excite your spirit today and give you witty invention, and clear excitable thought!

Love Always,

Did you know??

Did you know that according to first account experiences the late great Henry Ford would wait upon his ideas and invention to solve problems? He wouldn’t fret or worry, he would go about life until the answers hit him like lightning bolts.

It was said that his employees would never be alarmed if in the middle of a conversation he would get up and immediately retreat to his office, and be gone for days! When asked about this, Henry (who was sitting at a luncheon), turned a plate upside-down and said, “You see this plate? There is atmospheric pressure barring down on this plate, all around it. It is engulfed in pressure. Our minds are exactly the same. Thoughts are constantly bombarding and barring down upon us, we merely need to begin to be open and available to them.” In addition to all of his innovation and exciting new inventions, did you know that he and George Washington Carver in the early  parts of the 19th century had already begun discussion soy-based electric motor-cars! What a man “before his time.” He was not bored at all!
