Today’s principle focus of study is on Abundant Life.

Scripture of the Day:
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10

Today’s Positive Words of Affirmation and Encouraging Words to Live By:
“Today I will focus on taking good care of myself, and recognize that Christ came and died on the cross for me, so that I may be able to have a more abundant life. Today I will begin working on creating an enjoyable environment for myself and my family.”

The other day, as I was sitting in the shade watching my children play, I thought “Now this is living! What would happen if I made time to do THIS everyday!” I felt that the Lord was beginning to speak to me about how rushed we are in society, and how if we would schedule more time to rest, recuperate, and live our lives to the fullest, we would actually get smarter and more emotionally stable.

Having a High IQ means you have an incredibly highly measured intelligence. IQ = Intelligent Quotient. People like to think of men like Einstein and Edison.

Having a High EQ means you have become disciplined in the practice of responding to others in an incredibly stable emotional way. EQ= Emotional Quotient. People like to think of Ghandi or Mother Teresa.

I would like to introduce you to a new term that I have come to understand: LQ

Having a High LQ means that you have put an importance on, and are in daily practice of living life in a way that your quality of living is optimum. LQ = Life Quotient. When I think High LQ, I think of the European way of life!

My hypothesis goes like this: peace of mind brings ideas, innovations, and on the whole productivity. When we choose to put in high quality of life activities first establishing all around us a peaceful environment, we will become more intelligent, and more emotionally stable. We can not have peace of mind when we are being bombarded by “to-do’s”, “honey-do’s”, and “errands” or even “endless-activites.”

Our LQ’s end up highly affected when we spend the majority of our time off working harder on “projects” than we work at our jobs! We end up becoming drained, depleted, and rejected by having a life, “not worth living”.

Let us begin today by looking at our calendar and scheduling the most desirable, fun, and high quality of life activities FIRST. If you are an extremely busy person, you may have to schedule a year in advance, a cruise a destination. If not, go month to month. First ask yourself, what do I do that recharges me? What adds to my Quality of Life?

Hiking, Biking, Walking, Getting Coffee, Garage Sale-ing, Antique Stores, Junk Shops, The Mall, Movies, Dinner Out, Going to the Park, Swimming, Running, Read a Good Book Under a Tree, Going to the Bookstore, Going to the Library, Cooking, Baking, Farmer’s Markets, Visiting the Lake or the Ocean

Now look at your calendar and begin to PLAN days in advance when you can input these types of recharging activities in as much as possible. Make sure that your activities do not cause you stress or aggravation, getting that boat finally built for instance -unless it brings you peace of mind while doing it- does NOT count as a high quality of life activity.

Maybe you will choose to start walking with your spouse to coffee two, three times a week. Maybe you will sit on your porch and drink tea everyday at a certain time. Remember to unplug, recharge and focus on creating an environment in which you can live an abundantly increased LQ. It doesn’t take money, it only takes imagination and an environment change. Throw out the old uncluttered way of living… let us strive for a High LQ today!

  • Are you currently reading a book with actual pages and not digital?
  • Do you stop to pick flowers or purchase fresh flowers for the home, regularly?
  • Are your dishes done nightly?
  • Have you opened the house windows for fresh air today?
  • Have you a collection of classical music on your iPod or CD player?
  • Have you gone out into nature within the last 30 days?
  • Do your children remember life before video games and daily television watching?
  • Do you own a bike or a pair of walking shoes?
  • Have your bare feet felt sand in the last year?

and for the super High Quality of Lifers…

  • Have you turned off all electrical equipment (including all phones, alarm clocks, computers, and televisions) for a period of 72 hours… ever?

My Prayer Today,
Father God give your children revelation knowledge that their lives are precious and meant to be enjoyed. There is no sin in operating a high quality of life. Having a high quality of life does not mean that they cease working, show your children that it means that when they are not working they are meant to be in an environment that brings them encouragement and refueling. Show them the importance of fresh flowers and homemade jam and hand sewn curtains. Show them the pleasures that come from a sidewalk cafe and lingering conversations. Father God be with Your children today as they increase their IQ’s and EQ’s by establish great long lasting LQ’s. In Your Son Jesus’ name, AMEN!

May the Lord God Bless you today as you relax in God’s abundant life,

Love Always,

Did you know???

That there are 168 hours in a week, which leaves you with 108 hours (at the average of 60 hours of work) to do with whatever you please. Even if the average household spent 40 hours a week watching television (not advised) and 8 hours a night sleeping, you still have 12 hours a week to increase your quality of life

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy 1 Timothy 6:17

So I commend the enjoyment of life, because nothing is better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany him in his work all the days of the life God has given him under the sun. Eccl 8:15

Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that God favors what you do. Eccl 9:7
