Day 20: GOD-PLEASING FAITH

Today’s principle focus is on the two parts of God-pleasing faith .

Scripture of the day:
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6

Today’s Positive Words of Affirmation and Encouraging Words to Live By:
“Today I will stand in faith, and believe that when God asks me to do something, I will be rewarded as His good and faithful servant.”

GOD PLEASING FAITH COME IN TWO PARTS

Let us take a closer look, and read this scripture ONE more time… but let us break it up as in an outline.

A. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must:
1. believe that He exists
2. and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him

#1 BELIEVE IN GOD

As scripture outlines God-pleasing faith is a two part deal. First of all you have to believe in God. Does He exist? Has He shown Himself to you in a tangible way? Have you been healed, delivered, blessed, committed? If you do not believe in God you can not begin to have a journey of “God-pleasinf faith”. Maybe hope, maybe wishes, maybe expectations. Not “faith” however, because faith is an action. It is more than mere belief. True faith MOVES mountains, faith is an action. Consider: Faith without works is dead. (James 2:20)

#2 BELIEVE THAT HE WILL REWARD YOU FOR SEEKING HIM

What does it mean to “seek” God? It means to search for Him, to go to Him expectantly. When you are “searching” for a lost sock, do you expect to find it? When you need an answer from God expect Him to answer You. He will always give you the next steps.

However, isn’t it interesting that the primary focus of the scripture is not on seeking Him? It actually focuses on first saying that you must believe that He will reward you when you seek Him. I believe God KNOWS we will all at some point seek Him, but there are only a select few who will seek Him expectantly and ready to do what He asks of us. For example: “Lord how do I solve this problem?” He says, “Do this.” You say, “No thanks Bubba, don’t call me- I’ll call you.” That is not faith! Just asking isn’t enough!

HE IS OUR WAGE PAYER

The english word “reward” in Hebrews 11:6, is directly translated from the Greek word misthapodotes (Strong’s G3406). Misthapodotes defined is: One who pays wages, a rewarder. The root for Misthapodotes is misthos:

1) Dues paid for work, wages, hire.
A) used of the fruit naturally resulting from toils and endeavours, in both senses, rewards and punishments
B) of the rewards which God bestows, or will bestow, upon good deeds and endeavours
C) of punishments

This means that God-pleasing faith-filled Christians get their payouts from God! They trust that if they seek Him, and learn to be obedient to His instruction, naturally He will provide!

CAUSE AND EFFECT

Who in the world ever came up with the idea of “unconditional” love? If you are waiting for someone to love you unconditionally, you will be waiting for a very long time! Now we know that there are cause and effects even to those who claim to be “in faith!”

The enemy wants you to believe in “unconditional” love, think about it, the devil will let you do anything you want and yes he will still “love” you. You can do drugs, alcohol, kill, murder, destroy, and he will always except you with open arms. ISN’T THAT “UNCONDITIONAL LOVE”?

On the other hand, you have God who CLEARLY sets the rules for you to obey, and lets you know that if you live by the rules, you will have a peaceful and happy life here on earth now. If anyone is possible of unconditionally loving you it is God… but what happens when you begin to sin, backslide, and turn from God? According to His own “rules” or ways, He can not help you unless you believe He can. The only “unforgivable” sin is to deny the Holy Spirit. Why? Because, without the Holy Spirit.. one can not BELIEVE in God! Without God there is no forgiveness of sin!

Call it the law of sowing and reaping, call it Newtons law “To every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction.”, whatever you like to call it…right here in Hebrews Paul explains to us that you have faith when you believe God exists and that He will reward you for seeking Him out! Sounds like a good deal to me!

My Prayer Today,
Father God, thank you for showing us the cause and effect of faith. That God-pleasing faith is an action I know I am in faith when I believe that if you tell me to do something and I do it… You will be pleased! Everything about you is fair and in order, you are the Judge! Forgive me for being in “hope” in the past, and not in expectation that following You would benefit me. I don’t do things for the blessing, I do things for YOU and your Word says, “the laborer is worthy of his wages” (Luke 10:7) You are my #1 employer and I know that whatever it is you tell me to do, I will do it, and I will do it joyfully! Thank you for today, and for my new and renewed faith! You are the BEST! In Your Son Jesus’ name, AMEN!

May the Lord God Bless you today as you walk out your faith!

Love Always,

Jessica

Did you know???

That our peanut butter that we have today came as answer to prayer? After successfully educating the South on the importance of crop rotation and planting peanut plants to nitrate the hard cotton soil, Prof. George Washington Carver was presented with a very real problem. WHAT TO DO WITH ALL THE PEANUTS? It would be as if overnight the entire country had nuts and had nothing to do with them! One night George (a very faithful man) prayed to God. He said, “God if you would only show me the secrets of the universe.” God responded to him, “The universe no. You could not handle that. What I will show you however, is the secret of the peanut!” The Lord then told George to begin by taking apart the peanut and all of its elements. The shell, the nut, the oil, etc. George devoted his life to researching and creating possibilities for the peanut. He came up with over 300+ uses! Everything from coffee to peanut butter can be made from the peanut! Praise God, and thank you for a faithful man who sought, prayed and obeyed! I love peanut butter! I strongly suggest reading G.W. Carvers Autobiography, it is one of the best!
