Day 14: PROGRESSION

Day 14: PROGRESSION

Today’s principle focus is on progressing towards a determined goal.

Scripture of the day: Look to yourselves (take care) that you may not lose (throw away or destroy) all that we and you have labored for, but that you may [persevere until you] win and receive back a perfect reward [in full]. 2 John 1:8 AMP

Today’s Positive Words of Affirmation and Encouraging Words to Live By:“Today I will stand tall and in confidence, that though the job was not finished today, I know I did in fact come one step closer to my tasks completion. I look forward to finishing my current project, and then setting a goal for the next one!”

Where do I see myself on a scale of 1-10 in the area of “Progression”? 7 Where do you see yourself no scale of 1-10, in progression?

WHY PROGRESSING IS IMPORTANT

There is an old adage, “What would you rather have a million dollars or a penny doubled everyday for 30 days?” Well here it is… $ 1,000,000.00 vs. $.01 cent doubled

Day 1: $.01 Day 2: $.02
Day 3: $.04 Day 4: $.08
Day 5: $.16 Day 6: $.32
Day 7: $.64
Day 8: $1.28 Day 9: $2.56
Day 10: $5.12
Day 20: $5,242.88
Day 25: $167,772.16
Day 28: $1,342,177.28
Day 29: $2,684,354.56
Day 30: $5,368,709.12

You can see how progression in the long run affects the “penny a day doubled” theory. After a month you would be left with 5 million dollars! This scenario reminds me to not be too hasty, and to always keep in mind the scripture:

He that hastens to be rich has an evil eye, and considers not that poverty shall come on him. Proverbs 28:22

The good Lord is always there to remind us that He has a perfect timing in everything that He does. HE LOVES US THAT MUCH! Anyone who is attempting a “get-rich-quick” scheme is attempting to surpass the sowing and reaping process and is in haste.

COMPLETED IN SPIRIT

As soon as we received Christ we became completed in our spirit. There was no time frame to have to consider. We immediately showed up on God’s radar as “righteous” and our names were written in the lambs book of life. (Whether that is a permanent situation, or one subject to continuous sinning and thus creating the loss of salvation, is up to diverse opinions and theologies. The Bible says that it is by our confession that we are saved, and I tend to lean to the belief that our salvation depends upon a daily self-sacrificing, confessing and living according to the Word of God kind of salvation theology. Grace has saved us, and yet we “work out” our salvation with fear and trembling. Phil 2:12) Regardless of your ‘long term’ belief, when you became “saved” you became “whole”, Christ redeemed you , and reversed the curse in your life (Gal 3:13).

There is this little matter of the body. The body that we have been dragging around with us for years upon years. That body of ours, and all of its nasty little habits. That smoking, chewing, cheating, beating, drinking, poor thinking, and physical reeking havoc of a body. Our bodies are like dogs, in the sense that YES, we do have to teach our bodies new tricks. The separation between us and dogs however is that our bodies, (once we are found in Christ) are now subject to a “new mind”. (1 Cor 2:16) Now that we have been “born again” we are NOT trying to teach “an old dog new tricks”, we are found with fresh and new minds totally ready to be taught! Old things have gone, behold all things are new! The only thing that stands in the way of becoming a whole new you is the time it takes to form new habits and resistance that can be formed due to the lack of understanding that everything that you were before Christ came to live with you is gone and you are now a BRAND NEW creation! Hooray!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Cor. 5:17

OLD HABITS DIE HARD

I learned a long time ago that old habits die hard, but with enough training, and Bible reading, you can overcome any habit. With the Lord in you, He will give you strength. With the ability to cast out all evil imaginations (2 Cor. 10:5) from your mind, you will be able to overcome all negativity in thought, and you will be able to move ahead… little by little inch by inch. What an amazing thing to think! Whole on the inside, and progressing towards completion on the outside! It might take us to the lengths of our days, but let us never to stop growing forward!

When you look up the success in the dictionary, the most commonly accepted definition states that success: is the steady progression toward a worthwhile goal or dream.

Success therefore is an action word, a verb… NOT a noun. Success is not found in a thing earned, it is found in the progression one takes and is continually taking towards their dreams or goals. Successful people, are people found progressing… not staling.

My Prayer Today,
Father God, thank You today for the ability we have to progress with You. Each day is a new day to get one day closer to our completion. I pray that you never find me “perfect” but always find me working towards perfection! In Your Son Jesus’ name I pray AMEN!

May God Bless you today as you progress towards your dreams and desires!

Love Always,

Jessica
