Why Live In Fear When Even the Animals FEAR YOU?!

Representation of Christendom in the US

And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.” Genesis 1:22

“And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth [upon] the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.”  Genesis 9:1-2

Parah, is the Hebrew word for “fruitfulness” and it literally means, “to produce fruit” it is a primary origin word, and it is a simple word. As you study the New Testament, you  will learn that the Lord is more interested in the fruit of your lips than the stuff that you have (material items are not our human fruit).  In the case of replenishing the earth, “being fruitful” was/is an instruction and part of God’s plan for us children of God toward moving forward and establishing the Kingdom of God on this earth.

EVEN THE ANIMALS will fear you

I find it incredibly interesting that the Lord in Genesis 9, follows our command to “be fruitful” with “And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth…” what a confirming word to fruitfulness! Imagine being on an island and it is ONLY your family AND whatever animal inhabitants that were on the island before you. Perhaps the fear of tigers eating your young, or monkeys stealing your food, or lions roaming through camp would keep you from being fruitful. Here the Lord is saying, “BE FRUITFUL- and don’t be afraid of ANYTHING, for I will make sure than EVEN THE ANIMALS will fear you!”

You see, nothing is holding up our fruitfulness in God, but fear. The Lord has given the animals fear of us (when was the last time a grizzly bear walked in your house and demanded your bed?), and He has given us an abundantly great life. The enemy is under our feet… it is time to be FRUITFUL- NO FEAR HERE!

With this in mind, I am drawn to the thought of when the animals do crazy things and breach the boundaries of the fear of man, like when a dog trusts a man and becomes his companion. What we must recognize is that this “trust’ is a trained response, and that it isn’t in their nature, that if a dog were not trained to respond in this way they would run away and hide. It is NOT in fear that they would attack us, if they were in fear they would hide! Fear is the trait of a coward, not of boldness. Boldness comes from confidence, faith and hope… NOT FEAR.

As a matter of fact, I would not be surprised if psychology proved that when animals attack humans, it is from their animal instincts (thinking a human is prey, they –the human- acting weak/hurt) or from the animal being confident that something might happen to their young, or themselves. I do not believe an animal can attack a man “just because it wants to”, and I do not believe that a man would be attacked “for doing nothing”. It is time to become responsible for our actions- and walk in the same type of confidence that can seemingly turn things UPSIDE DOWN. How confident are you?

If God be for us, who can be against us?

Understanding that we know have the ability to live fruitful, is understanding our authority in the Lord. Understanding our authority and fruitfulness is understanding our ability to live a life free from fear.. The Bible says in Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper”, and now we know not only is it true, there is no holding us back! The devil is under our feet, and even the animal’s fear US… if God be for us, who can be against us?!

A prayer for today,

Father God, I have walked in fear in the past on too many occasions leaving me to be skittish and ashamed to go places and do things for You, running and hiding in fear. I am learning that in my walk as a believer and Evangelist of Your message, that I am called to be a “barer of Good News”, and that the blood of the cross will set me free from a multitude of sins. I understand sin is sin Lord, that there is no greater or less-than sin. We have all fallen short of You Lord, today however, remind us of this calling of fruitfulness- remind us again oh Lord that we have been made WHOLE in You. Remind us Lord that it is Your Word that sets us apart, in You we are free to live in the Spirit with You Father as You continue to instruct us in righteousness! MORE of YOU, LESS of me! In Your Son Jesus’ name- AMEN!
