Is This Pie Whole: Salvation 101

We are humans, NOT equations. In Math a subject might be missing a part and not be considered whole… but in Christ we are made complete.

Is this pie WHOLE? What makes it whole? Is it the fact that it isn’t missing any pieces? No. What makes this pie WHOLE is that by design it is what the Baker had originally intended. The Baker desired a blueberry pie, the Baker formed a blueberry pie, and the Baker MADE a blueberry pie. As far as math is concerned, if an object has all its parts (a pie for example), it is considered whole, if you take a piece away however the objects “wholeness” goes away. This is in math ONLY… we are humans not equations.
In the book of John Jesus came across a man who had been ill for 30 years and unable to walk. Jesus’ first question to the man was … “Will you be made whole?” (John 5:6) Jesus didn’t ask the man his problems or just snap his fingers to heal the man. Jesus had to wait to profess the man healed after the man himself decided he would allow Jesus to help. Jesus is a gentleman, and He will not force Himself on any man. The value we as readers need to see in this scripture is two-fold:
  1. We were created in our ENTIRETY by the Creator. Just like the pie from the Baker, if we came out of our mother’s with the breath of life – we have been made whole and in His Image. But what about the disabled? MADE IN HIS IMAGE. What about different races? MADE IN HIS IMAGE. It is only by way of the sin in this world we became separated from God, and it is in this sin that unavoidably our pie is torn to pieces.
  2. Thanks to the sin in this world, and through our life experiences by way of the ignorant presumptions of others our wholeness becomes taken from us. It is only through our decision to forgive, let go, and allow the Lord to heal us and make us whole!
When you take the time to consider all of the external influences in our lives, those persons who have made impressions on our overall psyches, it is dizzying! Everyone everywhere has the opportunity to take a piece of your pie! From the angry dog walker to the frustrated Bus Driver – everyone you meet who can choose to speak a word of disapproval or roll their eyes in your direction has the ability to chip away at you, but only if you let them!
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” 1 Corinthians 16:13
You have to CHOOSE to let Jesus do His work in you. In this picture, there is NO WAY this piece of pie could be put back together again. This is how most people live. Pretty on the outside, appearing all together to everyone else – however in reality, their “you pie” has been cut into pieces and there is no glue, no get-rich-quick scheme, no miracle tonic which could put this cut pie back together. This pie would have to be SPIRITUALLY reassembled, like new. In order for this pie piece to become whole again, it would have to become A NEW CREATION.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Cor 5:17
In a matter of 30 seconds or less, you can make the decision to be “made whole”. The decision to allow the Lord to make you WHOLE takes only a matter of seconds – and those seconds can, and WILL permanently change your life FOREVER.
“Jesus, I need you. I need wholeness in my life. I believe that you died and were risen again, you took my sin and because of you I am a new creation. I invite you to become the Lord of my life! Yes Lord, I receive you!”
