Feeling “STUCK”?

Living in Dallas, Texas for a season, I saw some crazy weather changes. Thunderstorms that dance along the prairie, that you can actually see coming from miles away. You can feel the hot morning sun begin in the morning, and beat down on you, until from out of nowhere, a cold front blows in and what was once hot and steamy turns frigid and cold.

Sweaty flesh morphs into clammy goose-pimpled skin and unless you become a “Native” Texan, you will never get used to its dramatic temperature changes. Unless you become completely adapted to your surroundings and your location, you will always be caught unaware.

If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit. If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer. Prov 9:12

A little over two years ago I had hit the wall, and was left questioning, how did we end up here? We had just moved the six of us (I was pregnant) from a 5,000sqft house to a 1,000sqft house. I had gone from having two kitchens, to a kitchen without a dishwasher or a garbage disposal. We lived out in the country, now we were in the city. We had two

brand new luxury cars, but in an instant we were left with just our old station wagon. We had a surplus of grocery money, and in a flash, pre-cooked food turned into me making beans from scratch and my own bread. It was in this “suffering” that I was led to ask God to show me what I needed to learn, and how on earth did we, the “Saints of God and covenant-minded Christians” end up, broke to the point of zero income?

“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.” Heb 12:5-6

Ever wonder how we end up getting stuck? Like the woman who gets stuck on top of her roof, in a flood. You’d think she would have known, when the water was waist high? Or the man who knew to not go in the office, but he did any way and that fire blazed down. Why did he disregard premonition and go to work anyway, how did he get so stuck in

routine? What were these people doing? They did not cause the calamity, why where they caught, in the middle of it?

Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?” Matthew 16:24 (Message)

According to The Word of God, we are called to follow Him, and not run from the suffering. In fact according to scripture, we find out who we really are, in times of personal suffering.

We must determine then, that our “suffering”, is intended for us to realize our true selves.

Yes, it has been proven that we through our associations and what we daily focus on, (either the Word of God or the world) will set us up for where we ultimately will end up, but it is through the power of God that when we turn to Him in times of crisis, He can use our situations to reveal to us whether or not we are winners or whiners, victims or victors, conquerors or condemned.

What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself?

Take a moment and look with me at the drug addict, when they have just lit up again, and gone into the tailspin of seeking self pleasure, could it even be remotely possible that the Lord maybe just maybe- might allow them to go there- so that they then can see for themselves their true nature? So that they can finally see that they ARE someone worth fighting for? Can you believe that our God could loves us so much that He allows us to get right near the edge, in which we can see ourselves our own true colors? The Lord does not tempt us, but He does allow us to go through pain. I believe that it is in this chastening, this discipline, that we can begin to see what it is we are really made of.

So when I hit the wall after all of that financial travailing, and was left fighting back tears, burdened with the signs

of the times, I decided one night before I went to bed to write these scriptures out, and rediscover who I really was…

So who are you? At the end of the day, standing in front of the mirror who are you anyway ?

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

A prayer for today,
“Thank you Father, that I have Jesus, the greatest gift, and thank you Lord that you will NEVER let me fall. I may get close, but You will always catch me. I may get lost, but you always find me. I may get confused, but you always straighten my path. Praise You Jesus.”
