FINDING JOY AGAIN
Scripture of the day: I am overwhelmed with joy in the LORD my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom in his wedding suit or a bride with her jewels. Isaiah 61:10
Today’s Positive Words of Affirmation and Encouraging Words to Live By: “I will rejoice today, in all that I do. I will choose to see the lighter more joyful side of everything, as positivity is a choice.”
Where do you see yourself on a scale of 1-10 in the area of “joy”?
I sprang out of bed this morning, thinking “Eureka! I have found it!” JOY! I went to bed last night at 1 am, unsettled with the title of the new blog 365 Days to a Whole New You due to the fact that it was implying that my readers needed to change something. This is always irritating to me, (being told I have to change something) considering that I am the first one to mute a commercial, or walk out of a store when a sales guys tries to tell me what I need to do. Thus “Eureka!”, I have changed the subtitle yet again, this time to Today’s HOT Topic: 365 Days to a Whole New Me!. Yes! Much better. This blog has been intended for me to daily prove that the Word works, when you work it, and that if I focus everyday on one characteristic found within the Bible and in the character of God… well as a result, I will become a new me. My situation will change.
I wasn’t all bad before, mind you, however I had noticed that my desire to write had grown lack, and my dishes had begun to grow stacked, and my body began getting out-of-whack. I had stopped going to the gym, staying up late to get work done (TV was on a bit too much), and house work had become a bore. I think that this was due to a spiritual exhaustion on my part, all Faith used up, and all resources depleted. How appropriate that Day 1 of my new life be a day to focus on being joyful!
Today, I won’t try to run on the treadmill for 17 hours, clean out all the closets or manicure the lawn with scissors. Today, I will maintain the focus of joy, and smiling and laughing more. I will encourage everyone that I meet to see the lighter side of their situation, regardless of its disastrousness. Today, I will choose to live by that famous scripture, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Today we, as a team (those who I call family, yes, you are family too) will choose to rejoice, in whatever blessings that we might have left… no matter how few.
BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING
We are not blessed to be hoarders. We are blessed to be a blessing. Economies that scale, are economies that move like the Jordan River. They say that birds don’t even fly over the Dead Sea. It is a stagnant body of water, and does not move. The Jordan River on the contrary however fertilizes with sediment everything that it touches. It moves, ebbs, and flows. We are called to do the same. Not just with our money, but with our gifts of the Spirit as well, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Besides, what is money but an outward manifestation of our own inward transformation? I have come to find out that our wealth and financial prosperity, is in direct relationship to our attitude, and our internal meditative and focused behavior. If you hate your job or business, chances are you won’t have it (or the money that comes with it) for long. If you choose to approach whatever it is that you do for a living with the fruits of the Spirit, watch out! Your job is about to become a position and your business is about to EXPLODE!
A prayer for today,
Lord help me to remember that joy comes from within, and that it is with a conscious decision that I choose joy. Today, I will put on the praise music as loud as it can go. In the car, in the house, in the yard! Let me be filled with worship and praise for You, and I pray that You would find me Holy, in Your sight. I pray for my brothers and sisters as well, that they would turn off the news for the day. That they would insert a cassette, CD, or Mp3 of their favorite music, praise or power packed encouraging songs. That they would get that “Eye of the Tiger”, stirred up within them to seize the day, and that they too would choose joy! Woohooo! Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus, things, they are a changin!
God’s Blessing’s to you as you go about singing and shouting through your day, things might get tough. But like in the old Disney cartoons, count to 10, let the heat subside and smile through it. No one can choose joy for you, but you!*
Did you know that “Judah” means praise? The tribe of Judah was known in the Bible as a Tribe of Praise. “When she (Leah) gave birth to a son she said, “This time I will praise the LORD.” So she named him Judah. Then she stopped having children.” Genesis 29:35
Those who walk in the ways of the tribe of Judah, full of praise and thanksgiving will lack for nothing, Judah was so blessed that scripture says, “The LORD will save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the honor of the house of David and of Jerusalem’s inhabitants may not be greater than that of Judah.” Zech 12:7. Jesus, was a descendant of the Tribe of Judah, Praise makes way for things to move!
