Day 10: PERSPECTIVE

Today’s principle focus is on perspective, how are we seeing things?

Scripture of the day:So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective. Col 3:1

Today’s Positive Words of Affirmation and Encouraging Words to Live By: “Today I choose to see things from God’s perspective. I will make my decisions and my emotional responses after first thinking about w.w.g.t… what would GOD think?”

Where do I see myself on a scale of 1-10 in the area of “Perspective”? (HA, I guess it all depends on how you look at it!) 5

Where do you see yourself in the area of God’s kind of “Perspective”?

To some, it would probably come off as blasphemous, attempting to see things from God’s point of view. Immediately they might retort…”Who do you think YOU are, GOD?! You can’t possibly think the way GOD does!” I beg to differ...

  • …there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. Daniel 2:8
  • “It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him.” Daniel 2:22
  • He replied, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them [Those who do not believe].” Matt 13:11
  • He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings deep shadows into the light. Job 12:22
  • “To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.” Mark 4:25 NLT
  • “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” Phil 4:12

YOU CAN ASK AND GET AN ANSWER

Have you ever gone up to your teacher or boss with a question regarding your job, and had them answer back at you… “I don’t know the answer.”? It is probably pretty rare, and chances are if they didn’t know the answer, they would answer you with.. “Let me get back to you on that.” You see our mentors, teachers, and bosses are where we go to get guidance and answers to our questions related to our position. It is in this type of relationship with men, that we should approach God for answers about our lives. Ask Him, and He will answer.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matt 7:7

So if scripture “says” that if you ask it will be given unto you why is it that so many peoples prayers do not get answered? Let me show it to you in this way…

Joe the plumber has worked in the plumbing industry for years. He was raised a plumber, he married the daughter of a plumber all of his family are plumbers. One day on the job, he comes to a problem he has never faced before, there is modern technology involved, and he doesn’t know the new materials. Since he is out on the job, (and he dropped his cell phone in a toilet last week) , all he knows to do is panic and run to get help!!! There is water flooding the basement!! HURRY JOE, HURRY! Immediately Joe runs to the nearest roofing supply store.

OH NO Joe! What would happen to Joe? Would he get what he needed? Would he be able to get the supplies he was looking for to fix the plumbing situation? The answer is obvious, NO.

It is not that God loves us conditionally, it is that He has equipped us individually. God is NOT in the business of making drones, He is in the business of giving us all unique capabilities. He has made you so unique that unless you TAP into Him and the way He does things for you, you will be constantly missing the mark and asking for things that don’t, shouldn’t, and wouldn’t help you at all. What can God do??

THE GRACE OF GOD

He can give you His grace. It is only through the grace of God that we are able to continue to live, breathe, eat and enjoy, even though we are consistently doing “jobs” that belong to someone else. Our Father in Heaven created us each with a unique purpose (Jer. 29:11), and ON purpose. It is our responsibility to begin to look at our lives in the way that He would desire them to be lived. I know scripture calls men to “honor their wives least their prayers be hindered (unanswered)”, why would not honoring your wife “close” heaven? Because honoring your wife, is what God would do. He made you a husband to your wife and that is your role. In that role one of your job duties is to give honor to your spouse, it is a requirement of marriage. [1 Peter 3:7]

What we all need to start doing is begin looking at life through an eaches and individual “God colored filter”. I am going to focus today on going beyond just doing Jesus type things to thinking God type of thoughts about me, and my position in life. Today I will begin by asking myself:

Is this the way God would want me to think?
Is this what God would be thinking about my situation?
Am I saying what God would want me to be saying?
Am I doing what God would be doing to prosper, heal, help, and give toward others?

I AM NOT GOD

I am NOT God, and you are not either. I am not a god, and you are not a god either. What we are however are “employees” of God, and in that respect we called to be imitators of God. (3 John 1:11, Mark 10:18) We are called to do our best not to think as God (we can’t, we aren’t God), but to do our best to think like God and in HIS ways. Any great employee can take over your job while you are away, and any great boss will not ask you to do something you are not individually equipped for. Just like the way that Joe the Plumber, could not get the answers he needed to fix his problems from the roofing company, Joe knows that he could never ask his son to tell him everything he needed to know about roofing. His son is a plumbers son!

My Prayer Today,
… is simple, Lord. It is that this word, would bless Your children and help them to begin to choose to look at situations in the ways that You do. I pray they would come to understand that You aren’t not answering their prayers, You are waiting for them to come to You in Your ways, through Your Son and on point and on purpose. Comfort them Father, that You are always here. Show them that what You are looking for is for them is a complete surrender to Your employment, and give them the courage to find out their individual job responsibilities in You. Show them Father, that they are YOUR CHILDREN and have been blessed and completed as Your children. You are the Potter, we are the clay. Father God, remind us that they are ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY unique, and that there is no “general problem, or general answer”. Give them boldness Father, to come before you as complete and unique individuals, seeking guidance for what YOU desire for them and how You have designed them to be, and HOW exactly for them to do everything in order to live an abundant life in You. In Your Son Jesus’ name, AMEN!
