What an Opportunity!

Last Wednesday I was offered a FANTASTIC opportunity to share with the lovely ladies of New Hope International Church, in Sunnyvale California. It was a great time to be able to share with them all of the ins and outs on how Wholehearted Ministries came to be, but MOSTLY the message was on the importance of being able to HEAR FROM GOD.

Hearing the audible voice of God in your spirit, feeling His presence, and knowing what to do next is the test of every Christian. After all, obedience is easy when we have ALL the facts, and the devil wants to keep us from knowing all the facts! The enemy wants to keep you hearing from God because the facts are SO SIMPLE:

Notice how #3 IS NOT “God wants you to get out of HIS way”, it is “God wants you to get out of YOUR OWN way”. Let’s face it, when God gives us a word and we HESITATE to do… it is almost ALWAYS because WE feel inadequate, WE feel disabled, WE feel unsure, and WE feel unworthy. As a matter of fact, if we REALLY BELIEVED God was moving and driving us around… I think we would all let Him drive! Getting out of HIS way is EASY… getting out of our own way is TOUGH!

What is NEXT Lord?

If you are like me, you ask God this question pretty regularly. It isn’t as if we are some sort of super-rific overachieving spiritual saint… it is just that we have become accustomed to being uber-efficient in managing and executing on God’s “little” tasks (none of God’s tasks are little BTW) like ministering to a sister, helping in the church play, or supporting a friend. The faith “walk” stuff.

If you find yourself  asking this question often, perhaps it is time to take what you are so successful at doing… TO THE NEXT LEVEL. Since we have continued for so long to excel in doing ALL the things that matter to the Lord that we can get done in a day- now we must begin asking ourselves what can we do for God that might take a week? A Month? A Year? Ten Years??? A LIFETIME???! Woohooo!


As I was praying tonight, the Lord convicted me and instructed me to begin writing a new series. Off and on in WHM history I have done series’, but this time He wants me to NOT blog-as-I-go. This time, He wants me to address this next series like a mini-book, and publish it to you my dear readers in about a week in daily manageable reads. I am excited, because I know the topic of the material will be of great interest to you and many others.

There is POWER in Repetition!

 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today.

Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Deut 6: 6 & 7

“There is Powa Powa Wonder-Workin Powa…”

… in the blood of the lammmmb! This morning as I was reading through Genesis 1, I noticed this phrase continuously popping up, “And the evening and the morning were”  this phrase appears SIX times in Genesis 1. It is extremely repetitive.

Think about all your “favorites” for a moment. Are they your “favorites” because you love them, or are they your favorites because you are familiar with them through the power of repetition? For example, white socks. Why do we wear white socks? Why not blue or beige or aquamarine? Is Coke or Pepsi really better? How about eggs, do we eat them the same every time? From baseball games to dominoes, certain things are done the very same way, and in this repetitive nature there is GREAT power.

Why does God choose to repeat to us over and over again that the evening and the morning were with us each day? Simple, because God wanted us all to realize over and over again (as many times as necessary) that AS LONG AS this earth remains, the sun will go up, and go down… and EVERYDAY has a NEW BEGINNING.  The question then becomes, are we treating each day anew, or are we stuck repeating bad habits and crushing our tomorrows?

EVERYDAY is a new day…

New EVERY Morning

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lam 3:23-24

I find it very consoling that in the Bible, even before the Lord discusses with us Adam and Eve and their sin, He reiterates to us His principle of repetition. It is as if He was saying, “Look I created all THIS… and yet the sun came up and the sun went down, just like always.” The Bible speaks of Jesus being “the same yesterday and today and forever” Hebrews 13:8.

Father God built into our lives a system of repetition. No matter what you do today, no matter how you sin or work towards saving others… the sun will GO UP and the sun will GO DOWN. If this is the case, (science cannot disprove this) than what happens when we choose to live each day to its fullest? What happens when we choose to repeat over and over again days of righteousness?


“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

“The Lord your God will soon bring you into the land he swore to give you when he made a vow to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It is a land with large, prosperous cities that you did not build. The houses will be richly stocked with goods you did not produce. You will draw water from cisterns you did not dig, and you will eat from vineyards and olive trees you did not plant. When you have eaten your fill in this land, be careful not to forget the Lord, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt. You must fear the Lord your God and serve him. When you take an oath, you must use only his name.”

Prosperous Cities You Did Not Build!

Do you believe that the state of our current economy is “prosperous”? Do you believe that you are living in a “prosperous” city? If not, then I would encourage you today to become the change that you would like to see in your neighborhood, town, city and nation. Begin repenting by turning from sin, and repeating positive life giving actions daily, and well… let’s just see what happens!

5 Things You CAN Do Daily That Will Make a BIG Difference!

  1. Wake up early and become proactive about your day! Nothing feels quite as good as being up before you have to, reading the Bible and praying for protection and blessings over your day.
  2. Exercise daily! Nothing says you can’t WALK to the store to get that first cup of coffee, or even just around the block. A daily focus on getting our bodies moving will give us energy x momentum!
  3. Call and encourage someone- Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our own melodramas, we forget that other people NEED us to cheer them up, laugh with them, or even just say, “Hi”. If we all touched a friends life daily through a personal message of love, just think of how prosperous we could become!
  4. Put a dollar away- Money isn’t everything, and so most people think neither is a dollar! Obviously Dollar Stores and the like have made millions because we have come to think that a “dollar” is nothing. So, if a dollar is nothing… why not put aside just ONE a day? At the end of a year you will have 365$ in your account. At the end of ten years… 3,650$! All by putting a dollar in a jar everyday… could you use 3650.00 today?
  5. Eat healthy food- Statistics show that Americans on the whole eat only 5% a day of fruits and vegetables. That means 95% of the food we eat daily is combined of meat, carbohydrates and starches. When you think of fruits and veggies in relation to percentages… what percent of fruit and veggies did you consume in your last meal? Fruits and veggies consist of macro-nutrients and have the most energy of ANY food. Forget about calorie counting when you eat them… fruits and veggies are packed with ALL the good, and none of the bad! God created us to be veg-heads first remember! Eat a well balanced (heavily weighed with fruits and veggies) diet, and it will give you something to SHOUT about tomorrow!
Dear friends, in school it wasn’t ok to call a “do over”, in golf it isn’t acceptable in competition to ask for a “Mulligan” , but in life everyday is a NEW day. Start today off through prayer and meditating on God’s Word that it really WILL be a GREAT day and you CAN recreate the history of your life by beginning new habits and repeating them again, and again, and again, and…
