HEALED FROM CANCER

He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered [them] from their destructions. Psalm 107:20

YOU TOO CAN BECOME CLEAN

Today I read the most wonderful scripture, “Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.” John 15:3. Think about that for a moment. You see the Bible isn’t just a book of stories, or debatable facts- it is GOD’S WORD. If you aren’t reading it, well YOU CAN NOT BE CLEANED. “Cleansing” comes from the word that the Lord speaks TO YOU. Can you be saved? Yes, through your confession- the question however is how long does your confession stay Holy as you continue on sinning and living a dirty life? WE ALL NEED TO BE AND REMAIN CLEAN AND SANCTIfIED.

Why Choose to be free from sin?

  1. If you want to make it into Heaven -Heaven is for the righteous- (Psalm 69:28)
  2. If you want to see God (John 3:3)
  3. So you can be a vessel of honor to bless God
  4. So you can enjoy dominion over the devil and his hosts
  5. So you can enjoy peace with God
  6. So you can enjoy the unblocked blessings of God
  7. So you can be entrusted with the anointing of the Holy Ghost

So how then do you do it? How do you “READ” the Word cleanse the body, and start walking free from sin? It really is simple, and there are several different ways you can choose to read it. You can read it from cover to cover, you can read it at random, you can read it topically -searching the index for exactly what you need-, you can choose to use commentaries, devotional books, and even email subscriptions. However, what you must understand is that just “reading” the Word alone IS NOT enough, what we are talking about is full IMMERSION in the Word as we read it. Reading a book to learn another language, is WAY different than reading a book in your own language. One takes attention and IMMERSION, while the other just takes comprehension.

In your Bible reading time, what you must choose to do is APPLY the Word, seeking to change and CLEANSE your lives free from sin as a result of reading it. It is true that reading the Bible is revealing, but as long as one chooses only to read it haphazardly (for basic comprehension), well it won’t produce much. Kind of like a car not firing on all cylinders, so a man or woman behaves who gets minimal exposure to the word. What we are looking for is MAXIMUM exposure, MAXIMUM power! This happens when we READ the WORD, APPLY the WORD, and CHANGE our KNOWLEDGE because of the WORD. What we need to do is start “RACK”ing up our understanding of the Word of God so WE TOO CAN BE CLEANSED AND HEALED*!!

Here is a testimony I recently received from a brother and sister in India who have chosen to apply the Word and walk in the MAXIMUM cleansing power of the WORD OF GOD,

May 17, 2011

Dear Beloved Jeff and Jessica in Christ,

Greetings to you in Jesus name.

I am Pastor Joseph to The Lord’s Chapel in India. I am searching for good Biblical information and I found your website. I read good testimonies in your site. I also have a testimony from my family. Recently God healed my sister Sharon from bone cancer. What a miraculous God we are worshiping. He is coming soon and as we are His disciples we need to work a lot. Pray for us and for our Church. If you have hearts towards India visit us. God bless you all.

In Christ,

Joseph

*There are many accounts of men and women who have died and have been found clean, (think of the stoning of Simon who was in the Spirit as he was murdered, or many of the other disciples who were killed and clean) “death” is not the determining factor of ones cleanliness, how you choose to live your LIFE says more about you then how or WHEN you die. CAN God heal a man or woman of cancer through His Word? YES and AMEN! If that healing did not manifest for a member of your family, and they passed on into glory- does this mean they were NOT clean? NO! “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die” Eccl. 3:1-2 NIV

“Father God, I WANT to be a follower of Christ and end on a win! I come to you in prayer asking for the forgiveness of my sins. I confess with my mouth and believe with my heart that Jesus is your Son, and that he died on the Cross that I might be forgiven and have Eternal Life in the Kingdom of Heaven. Father, I believe that Jesus rose from the dead and I ask you right now to come in to my life and be my personal Lord and Savior. I repent of my sins and will Worship you all the day’s of my Life! Because your word is truth, I confess with my mouth that I am Born Again and Cleansed by the Blood of Jesus! In Jesus Name, Amen.”

Christians are SUPPOSED to FEEL STUFF!

HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO … FEEL!!?

There is a well known stigma that all Christians are supposed to be “pansies”. Sensitive, emotional, wavering cry babies that in one breath will laugh and in the next cry at the drop of a hat. On the flip side, our non-believing counterparts can be cool, calm, and collected all with vision and purpose. Why is this so? Was it ALL due to the Sermon on the Mount? Have the Beatitudes … beat out our ATTITUDE? Let it not be so!

“Feeling stuff” is important. As a matter of fact, did you know that most chronically overweight people… have never felt HUNGRY? It has been stated by dietitians, that one of the toughest thing a chronically overweight person has to go through is learning how to WAIT to eat until they begin to feel hungry! They have become so conditioned to eat all the time, that they have completely become conditioned to avoid feeling hunger pains OF ANY KIND. I don’t know about you, but I know quite a few people who work really really hard to NOT feel ANYTHING, and in return- they are FAT with debt, weight, poor relationships, greed and all out fleshly desire. To them “anything goes” and “permanent happiness” is their #1 priority – cause FEELING HURTS TOO MUCH.

ATTITUDE AND AIRPLANES

Did you know that the word “attitude” does not occur even once in the King James Bible? The word is actually a modern word, and this modern word is a good word to describe your “emotional state”, however I believe that the modern day Christian has become so focused on “maintaining a GOOD attitude”, that they have  have forgotten that it takes CONSTANT adjustments to our “attitudes” in order for us to get anywhere.

“In aircraft flight dynamics, pitch, roll and yaw angles measure both the absolute attitude angles (relative to the horizon/North) and changes in attitude angles, relative to the equilibrium orientation of the vehicle.”

The attitude of an aircraft plays a major role in WHERE exactly the aircraft will end up. One degree off course- and you could crash into a mountain! Once the aircraft is in the air, it becomes possible to hold the aircrafts attitude steady and consistent. However, if you know anything about operating a vehicle (car, bike, airplane), you  understand that trying to maintain a “PERFECT” attitude is impossible and that attitudes can ONLY be maintained BY ADJUSTMENT.

Try it sometime, when you are driving you car- can you ever NOT make minor adjustments in steering? NO! Constantly we are “trying to stay within the lanes”, adjusting the wheel in order to make the car go straight. Today’s focus IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR US TO BECOME EMOTIONALLY UNSTABLE, it is on the reality of emotions and the recognition that LOVE must become the instrument in which we use to adjust our “ATTITUDES”. Just like an airplane has its main flight control surfaces (ailerons, elevator, rudder, spoilers, flaps…etc), so we too have become fully equipped in Him in order to BEST control our emotional attitudes. God has feelings – God gave us feelings – it is time now to learn how to properly DEAL WITH THEM.

“Jesus wept.” John 11:35

1 CORINTHIANS 13 : AND UNDERSTANDING THE REALITY OF EMOTIONS

I began this study of emotions based on the desire that I had to better understand why we as Christians have such a difficult time “feeling”. While I agree that we are “not to be moved by how we feel”, as a Christian who strives to walk with the mind of Christ I am beginning to understand that CHRIST FEELS AND FELT THINGS!

The reality is that  as you draw closer and closer to God, you will become more and more emotional- crying with injustice, mourning for the dead, anger for those who commit sin, jealous for those who serve other gods, and much more! Serving God doesn’t come just with a “joy band-aid” covering in blindness pain and suffering, serving God comes COMPLETE with emotional responses to others actions today LET’S FACE THEM and let’s learn the appropriate response!

Let’s take the time to look at some EMOTIONS of God based on His scripture:

  • For the word of God is quick, and powerful. Heb 4:12
  • “O unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you?” Mark 9:19
  • For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name [is] Jealous, [is] a jealous. God Ex 34:14
  • The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen [men] of Israel. Psalm 78:31
  • Well done, good and faithful servant! Matt 25:23
  • And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. Exodus 3:14
  • He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. Psalm 103:10
  • My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6
  • Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
  • Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” he said to Peter, “are you asleepCould you not keep watch for one hour? Psalm 14:37
  • So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them. Exodus 2:25
  • “I hate divorce,” says the LORD God of Israel, “and I hate a man’s covering himself with violence as well as with his garment,” says the LORD Almighty. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith. Mal 2:16

While these scriptures (like many others) might seem all over the map in regards to the potential relevance of this article, they are scriptures which cover a multitude of feelings. Shortness, impatience, jealousy, pride, frustration, resentment, and even hatred. As a matter of fact if you were a causal Bible reader, you might be lead to read these scriptures and see God as TOTALLY temperamental and emotionally unstable! OH NO! This is NOT the case!

GOD IS  LOVE

God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” John 4:16

God never desired for us to become unemotional statuesque representations of humanity. He never expected us to “ALWAYS BE UP”, and He certainly never expected us to become numb to feelings… He IS A FEELING GOD! What He DOES expect of us however, is that our main controlling instrument is set at the LOVE setting… ALL THE TIME.

The best visual I can give to you is a steering wheel that steers a car. How about instead of the standard “circle” shape, you replace that shape with a heart. Imagine yourself now “steering” your life by YOUR HEART, GOD’S HEART.

When shortness rears its ugly head (and it WILL)… Love endures long and is patient and kind

When impatience rears its ugly head (and it WILL)… Love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy

When jealousy rears its ugly head (and it WILL)… Love is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.

When pride rears its ugly head (and it WILL)… Love is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride)

When intolerance rears its ugly head (and it WILL)… Love is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly

“Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].” 1 Cor 13:4-8 AMP

IN CONCLUSION

We are not called to be oversensitive and subject to our emotions. We are called to keep those emotions in line with the Word of God and HOW HE HANDLES THINGS. YES, God gets angry, jealous, intolerant- but it is by His love for us, and that His emotions do not go unchecked and it is in this Love and by His example of this Love that we are not all destroyed and we are EXPECTED to NOT destroy others! It would be unkind of God to create us in His image (complete with emotions and feelings), and then ask us to disregard what He put in us… but it would be EXACTLY like God to show us how when we approach our emotions with LOVE, we can steer ourselves on the exact RIGHT PATH… the WALK OF LOVE!

Perpetual Victory Can Be YOURS

“Here is a simple, rule-of-thumb guide for behavior: Ask yourself what you want people to do for you, then grab the initiative and do it for them. Add up God’s Law and Prophets and this is what you get.” Matt 7:12 MSG

END ON A WIN

Jeff and I have a rule and that is, “If you are ever going to try something new… always make sure you end-on-a-win.” In other words, we don’t leave the bowling alley without at least first hitting some pins. We don’t leave the driving range without hitting our best ball of the night, we keep making phone calls until someone says “yes”, we don’t publish a work until it has been properly worked over. As winners, Jeff and I have made it a practice to always “end-on-a-win”.

A good friend and I were having a conversation the other day about people who aren’t Christian’s and yet- seem to have “everything” (i.e. STUFF)  in life. Cars, houses, money etc. They were asking me WHY, WHY, WHY? Not negatively (as you might imagine), but positively in a seeking to understand on a deeper level why do the ungodly seem to prosper? While good men and women of God tend to appear to be constantly struggling?

It was at this moment of ministry to another, that the Holy Spirit began to minister to me as well. What He was communicating to me and through me, went right along with King Davids oh so poignant Psalm:

“Behold, these are the ungodly, who are always at ease; they increase in riches. Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, And washed my hands in innocence. For all day long I have been plagued, And chastened every morning. If I had said, “I will speak thus,” Behold, I would have been untrue to the generation of Your children. When I thought how to understand this, it was too painful for me— Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end.” Psalms 73:12-17

RELATIONSHIPS

Scripture indicates that the followers of Christ that remain faithful observers and doers of the Word to the end, WILL END WELL. Those who deny Christ, WILL NOT END WELL. Time and time again in the Word it confirms this train of thought by repeating the premises; Heaven and Hell, life and death, blessing and cursing. What is it that followers of Christ do that no one else does, that causes them to repeatedly END WELL? Followers of Christ STRIVE to build relationships with others in love!

A non-believer doesn’t stay up late praying for their friends or enemies. A non-believer doesn’t give when it hurts. A non-believer doesn’t do their best to be honest, trustworthy, and just. A non-believer doesn’t rejoice when their friends get Baptized or saved for eternity!

A non-believer can start out with EVERYTHING, and end up with NOTHING- all because they isolated themselves into a greedy self-serving hole!

LET’S SPECIFY “CHRISTIAN”

2000+ years ago, you would have NEVER had to explain this to people because HE WAS THERE, however there are now so many different religious organizations that claim to be “Christian” you really have to be CLEAR in defining Christianity. Oxford’s Dictionary defines “Christian” as such: “a person who has received Christian baptism or is a believer in Jesus Christ and his teachings.” True Christians are followers of Christ. Paul admonishes us by saying, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” 1 Cor 11:1 This type of following of Christ can only be achieved by studying Christ and His Word. How did He think? What did He do? Where did He go, and why? Christian’s who END WELL, follow Jesus!

A believer can start out with NOTHING, and end up with EVERYTHING (total WHOLENESS)- all because they gave of themselves in order to enrich the lives of others!

YOU TOO CAN END WELL

If recently maybe you too began to feel down, watching others who do not worship God succeed, I would like to encourage you today that YOU WIN.

  • YOU are building relationships!
  • YOU are making friends!
  • YOU are doing unto others!
  • YOU work to enter into the sanctuary of the Lord!
  • YOU WIN!

Sometimes we all need a little reminding that we who serve the Lord ARE NOT like the others, and while they put their trust in things- those things doth rust and corrupt, while we have treasures yet in store!

Chin up my friends! Trials are fleeting, GOD IS IN CHARGE! He knows right where you are at, and what you are dealing with. THE SCALES WILL BALANCE. God is a fair and righteous Judge, He has seen your struggles, and is working on supplying you with a VICTORIOUS finish! Do I believe that your victory can manifest NOW and in the flesh… ABSOLUTELY! Jesus was quite a VICTORY! Even in His death He was victorious!

“In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life. But those on the way to destruction treat us more like the stench from a rotting corpse.” 2 Cor 2:14 MSG

Need Some SLEEP?! What Does the Bible Say? What Can We Do?

“He grants sleep to those He loves.” Psalm 127:2

DOES GOD LOVE YOU?

No doubt! He loves you very much. Why then are there so many Christians struggling with their ability to get to sleep well at night? Especially when we have scriptures that guide us like: “Cast all of your cares upon the Lord- for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7) and “… to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.” (Hebrew 3:18-19) In these two scriptures we read that God is there for us to give our issues to, and that unbelief in Him and His abilities and His sovereignty keeps us from entering into His rest.

If you believe in Him and trust in Him, then you really should be able to receive from Him a sweet night sleep. Worrying, fretting, stressing, and frustration robs us from our ability enter into “His rest” because these emotions when entertained do more harm than good, and led us into disbelief  and doubt that God is WHO HE REALLY SAYS HE IS.

For instance, if you had a rough day on the job, and have started worrying about making ends meet- you have now taken over from God His covenant promise of provision to you. Now, as you have become “lord over your own life” you end up going to bed worrying about your bills and accounts and how xyz is supposed to happen. Taking Lordship away from the Father and placing it into your own hands, creates and causes major disbelief in God’s ability to provide for you. Perhaps all of this burden before bed has become habitual for you. I would encourage you TODAY to pray that the Lord would ease your heart, give you the heart for repentance, and begin trusting in HIM again… with everything.

“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,

and do not give the devil a foothold. Eph. 4:26-27

VOW TO NEVER GO TO BED ANGRY

In the last 15 years of marriage, Jeff and I have had many disagreements, but we have always abided by the scripture:

“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Eph. 4:26-27

Regardless of whether you are single or married, stewing overnight on an argument or offense will always steal your much needed and deserved sweet sleep. Do your best every time that you are in an intense situation to take a breath or two, and clear up any offenses that might have occurred during the day, before you go to sleep. The devil always has the upper hand when he can convince us to go to bed mad, because he knows that the spirit of anger and depression festers, and while you will wake up in the morning the same as always- you won’t wake up feeling the same as always! You will be exhausted and less effective or productive. Chances are that after a fight of unresolved issue; you will sleep poorly, wake up late, and always channel soreness deep, deep inside of you. These feelings will surface one day, but by then it is usually too late!

FIVE KEY PHRASES TO CALM DOWN ANY FIGHT

1. “Can you please forgive me?”

Try using this instead of “I’m Sorry.” When you ask for someone’s forgiveness, immediately you are assuming responsibility for the offense and it will cause the other person to have to say “Yes,” or “No.” Giving you more to talk about while you are going through the issue.

2. “I understand how you feel, that would make me feel the same way too.”

Earnestly try and empathize with those that could be upset with you. Think about them, and why they are losing their patience with you. It might be that they are tired, hungry, angry, or even lonely.

3. “I am sorry I disrespected you,” or “Can you please forgive me for showing you disrespect?”

Any time you mention respect to a man, you are speaking his language. Women respond to emotions like men respond to respect. As a wife, apologizing  for coming off as disrespectful carries a lot of weight. I can remember one time when Jeff was trying to get a hold of me and I didn’t answer my cell-phone. By apologizing for the disrespect that my actions caused him to feel, it defused the situation immediately and we were able to move on.

4. Wives, you may want to try this “Could you please help me understand where you are coming from? Is there a key issue, or bottom line that you would like me to understand?”

Even though this sounds more professional than marital, understand that when your husband is upset with you, or something you have done, he immediately shuts down into work mode. He may come off icy at best, and is professional in attitude. After all, this is how he deals with conflicts daily. Don’t be surprised if he begins to talk to you as a secretary or employee. If that happens, just try and stay unemotional, and play the role back to him. He will learn to respect you, and feel respected at the same time.

5. Husbands, you may want to try this “Is there anything I can help you with? I understand that you are under a lot of stress right now with ‘xyz’, (try and be specific it will be more endearing and show that you have been listening) I would like to give you all of my attention until we can get this situation resolved… please tell me again how I can help.”

If the situation has gotten beyond the ability to talk, do not be afraid to go right up to your wife and give her a big hug, and let her cry. Most often the response when people get offended is to run away, but never underestimate the power of an authentic embrace. Sometimes that is all women need.

SOME BEDTIME TIPS: “He grants sleep to those He loves.” Psalm 127:2

  • Give all your cares over to God: “God I know You want what is best for me, and I trust that You can handle everything that I am going through. I want to thank you ahead of time for the great night sleep that I am about to have.”
  • Make sure that you have forgiven everyone who has offended you, try to make it right with them before bed- if at all possible.
  • Read the Bible and some scriptures to sooth your spirit before you sleep
  • Count your blessings
  • Intercede in prayer for your friends
  • Tea before bed: Try a cup of honey, lemon and hot water. Settle the throat and the nerves.

LASTLY

In conclusion, rest is good for us. It is the time for reflection, praise and thanksgiving and renewal of the body. God does not need to rest, and yet He is so confident in His work that the Bible says that on the seventh day “He rested”. If God can be so confident- shouldn’t we be as confident in Him in return? As my gift to you, I would like to give you some scriptures on sleep/rest that I pray will put your mind to ease and give you that rest you have been longing for- MAY GOD BLESS YOU IN YOUR REST!

[It is] vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: [for] so he giveth his beloved sleep. Psalm 127:2

“Yet if you devote your heart to him, and stretch out your hands to him, if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent, then, free of fault, you will lift up your face; you will stand firm and without fear. You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by. Life will be brighter than noonday, and darkness will become like morning. You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety. You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid, and many will court your favor.” Job 11:13-19

When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Proverbs 3:24

The sleep of a laborer is sweet, whether he eats little or much. Eccl 5:12

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. Psalm 91:11-12

For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall. Psalm 55:22

People of God Are NOT Supposed To Be People of Vision?!

“The people of God are not to be a people of vision; they are to be a people of revelation.”

PEOPLE OF REVELATION

For years and years, I used to read Proverbs 29:18 in the original King James Version,

“Where there is no vision, the people perish”, this was always interpreted to me as, “When you don’t know what you want, you are going to die!” Coupled with, Habakkuk 2:2 “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.”

I was convinced that with these two scriptures, the Napoleon Hill statement was 100% true, “If a man can believe it and see it, he can achieve it!” I was incorrect, and incomplete.

That was until I read Phil Vischer’s book, “Me, Myself and Bob, A True Story About God, Dreams, and Talking Vegetables.” In his book, Phil describes the rise and fall of Veggietales and Big Idea, and how the vision that he had initially for his company had became something completely out of control. And how throughout the process of success and failure he learned what having a “vision” really meant.

I would like to share with you an excerpt from his book, in this passage he is referring to a daily devotional book that he had read by Henry Blackaby called Experiencing God….

“I picked it up and opened it to week one, day one. A few paragraphs down I read these words: “If you start something and it does not seem to go well, consider carefully that God, on purpose, may not be authenticating what you told the people because it did not come from Him, but from your own head. You may have wanted to do something outstanding for God and forgot that God does not want that. He wants you to be available to Him, and more important obedient to Him…”

Day five: “It is not what is in your heart, nor what you want to accomplish for God, nor what you want to see in your church, or even what you want to see in your group of churches. The key is not what you want to see (your vision), but what is in God’s heart and what is in His mind.”

…“We have no business telling God what we want to accomplish for him or dreaming up what we want to do for Him.” And “The people of God are not to be a people of vision; they are to be a people of revelation.”

What? That’s blasphemy! Or at the very least, highly un-American! Of course we’re supposed to be people of vision! There’s that verse-Proverbs 29:18-“For lack of vision, the people perish.” HA!

I was big on that verse. I’d even been introduced with that verse. “’Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint!’ Here’s Phil Vischer!’” Yet Yoda Henry was ready to skewer that one with his little green light saber, quickly pointing out that when we quote Proverbs 29:28, we always quote the King James Version. Check out a modern translation like the New International Version, he advised, and you’ll find the verse reads, “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint.””- Pages 235-238, Me, Myself, and Bob

VISION is NOT REVELATION

Phil goes on to describe how somewhere along the line, he had stopped listening to God and become hard hearted in the achievement of his dreams. He had interpreted Proverbs 29 the same way I used to. “What I WANT is more important and enough for GOD to do it.” And in Habakkuk, “If I WRITE it down, I am SURE to get it.”

Books like “The Secret and Think and Grow Rich” Will teach you that same concept, however they leave many people falling short and frustrated. The message ends up coming across that if you ‘dream, imagine, and visualize’ becoming a concert pianist and want it bad enough you can do it, because after all what YOU want and on YOUR power you can do anything. Have you ever gotten frustrated screwing a round peg into a square whole?

Read Proverbs 29 in a modern version,

“Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint” NIV

AHA! WHAT?! ‘Revelation?’ Yes! You see God has a purpose for your life, and he is waiting to reveal it to you. All you need to do is ask Him for it. We are not called to conjure, imagine, and force our reality. We are called to step into the life that God has for us. As a matter of fact the complete verse in Habakkuk reads this way,

Then the LORD replied:

“Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” NIV

Our lives are about the revelation that God shows us. In the days of old, before PowerPoint’s, goal setting, self-help books, and false imagery, ‘vision’ meant to dream. We as Christians need to recognize that being in God’s will, is not a challenge. His yoke is easy, and His burden is light!

My prayer today,

“Lord, let my brothers and sisters see today perhaps for the first time, what you would have them to do with their lives. Give them the revelation of the plan that you have had purposed for them since the beginning of time. Give them the bravery of heart and courage to let go of that which they may have been forced upon to do. Allow them to boldly go forward in the attempt of fulfilling their destiny, regardless of how ‘ridiculous’ it may seem. Your revelations are pure, and mighty and on purpose. We desire to be on purpose for You and want whatever You want for our lives. We die to our own, and submit to You. Your revelation for us is all we need, God alone. In Your Son Jesus’ name, AMEN. ”

**Phil has gone on to create a new company called Jelly Telly. You can look him up on the web at www.jellytelly.com. He expresses how upon completely surrendering to the Lord, the very first book he wrote afterward was read to his wife and she broke down in tears. He now describes his life as “Skating on ice, not pushing boulders up mountains.”

God Bless you,

Jessica
