Feeling Loved… but Not Wanted?

For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. Deut 4:24

THE ALWAYS LOVED, BUT NEVER WANTED PHENOMENON

I was discussing today with someone I love deeply about this “always loved, never wanted” phenomenon. What could that possibly mean? In this modern-day there seem to be more and more people who always feel loved – but never feel wanted, people who feel perhaps as if their family/friends are always around, but that they have no vested interest into each others lives.

The best way I could explain it would be like living next door to your sister (you know she loves you), but then never seeing her or being given the opportunity just to “hang out” with her.

What is this disconnect? What is this modern-day incapacity to be able to show love through actual service and contact? The Bible says in the end times, “… people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane.” 2 Tim 3:2 AMP

It also says, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25 NIV

GOD IS JEALOUS FOR YOU

While the world grows more and more divided and disconnected, today I would like to bring to your attention that God is a jealous God. What does that mean? It means: HE WANTS YOU, and HE WANTS YOU ALL TO HIMSELF.  If you are a person who has always felt “loved” but never wanted, I am here today to tell you that: GOD WANTS YOU. The Creator of ALL living things created you to FIRST be with Him, and secondly to serve others.  God plus a house, God plus a car, God plus a good job is NO match for God-alone because HE WANTS YOU and HE WANTS YOU TO WANT HIM TOO.

Serving a God who is jealous for you is very much like signing a legal non-compete document. What is a non-compete document? A non-compete is a paper that a company has you sign when you begin working for them. It limits you legally from EVER doing work with other companies in a competing field WHILE you are under your employers contract. For instance, if you worked for a potato chip company, and signed a non-compete, you would not be permitted to sell any competitors brand of chips EVER until your contract expires. When you became a Christian, you signed the contract of salvation on your heart- and with it you signed on to Christ and HIS message that there was NO OTHER way to God but through His Son Jesus the Christ and Messiah. Going and serving any other form of god, while you have contracted your heart and life to God- is a breach of your metaphorical contract. This causes calamity and it takes you out from under God’s wing of protection. Choosing to go against God, negates the decision that you made FOR God. It saddens His heart, and it grieves yours. Those who DESIRE to feel wanted: GOD WANTS YOU TO HIMSELF. HE WANTS YOU, HE WANTS YOU, HE WANTS YOU!!!

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Gal 3:26

WORK TO BUILD BRIDGES

We all should desire to want relationships with others, especially in the end times. The Bible says that we should be meeting “more and more”, it insinuates that our time together with other Christians should increase nearing the end, and that we should assemble as often as possible.

If you are currently in relationships in your life in which you feel “loved” but not “wanted”, take the time today to begin “building a bridge” with the people who you feel disconnected from. What does “building a bridge” mean? “Building a bridge”, is a term that we like to use to explain the act of reaching out to someone and offering them your hand to meet up and fellowship in relationship. For instance, asking someone out to coffee is “building a bridge”. What you are saying in essence is that you are trying to connect through the invite to coffee with someone else, building a bridge from you to them in which love and mutual respect can begin to flow freely. This does not happen overnight- but as long as you choose to build relationships instead of destroy them- you will begin to feel more and more connected with them as individuals, and they will now have a new relationship with you, a relationship built on love AND want (the desire to become connected).

No one desires to feel unwanted. No one wants to feel like a “castaway”. Grown children still want their parents to call them (just to check in), teenagers still want their parents to take them to church (and lunch afterward), Grandparents still want you to “stop by and visit”, and friends and neighbors still want the neighborhood BBQ to be at your place! Finding out the proper way to feel loved AND wanted comes from only one source JESUS. Everything else is just work and noise. I would challenge all who are reading this today to begin to see:

A. GOD WANTS YOU!

B. You can build successful bridges to open the doors of communications with others

C. Everyone wants you to build a bridge with them, you just have to decide to DO IT

D. With JESUS you can be loved AND wanted!

God bless you my friends as you go about your day today feeling that you are LOVED and WANTED by Jesus!

A Word From Dr. God

Honey… Where yet again science proves the Bible

He will eat curds and honey when he knows enough to reject the wrong and choose the right. Isaiah 7:15

“HONEY” WE CAN STILL LEARN A THING OR TWO FROM DR. GOD

For years I have read Proverbs 16:24 and been under the impression that honey must be good for you. “Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” But it wasn’t until today that I put two and two together to understand just how good honey AND the Bible must be for you. So good… I think we should read it again,

“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.”

There are a couple of things going on in this scripture that deserve hi-lighting. First, pleasant words are sweet to the soul (not just to our egos) and pleasant words are health to our bones (which proves that “sticks and stones may hurt my bones- but words will never hurt me” to not just being non-biblical, but untrue). Secondly, this scripture shows us that honeycomb according to the Bible, is not only sweet to the taste- it too must also be good for the bones.

Early this morning I woke up and my first thoughts were about honey and it’s nutritional facts -I am not a nutritionist- so to wake up thinking of the nutritional facts of honey was an odd thing to wake up at 3AM thinking about! (Might even be odd for the nutritionist!) I decided to get working, and to process in my own mind honey and its healthful facts- not just to appease the early morning wake up call- but to go further into the Word of God and see if I could prove YET AGAIN that the Bible IS INFACT God’s Word to man and intended to be our manual for success!

HOW HONEY PROVES GOD’S WORD TO BE TRUE

As you can see, according to the nutritional facts mentioned in the photo- honey is extremely high (per 1 cup) in potassium, calcium and fluoride. When you take into consideration that at the time Proverbs was written the Bible was the only medical journal to date, if it says “honey is good for the bones” believers of God’s Word would have eaten honey for the bones just like medicine. Now thanks to modern science, we have scientific PROOF that not only is honey packed with potassium (176 mg), it is also packed with calcium (20.3 mg), and with fluoride (23.7 mcg) as well!

Potassium: An essential element of life

“Potassium is secreted twice and reabsorbed three times before the urine reaches the collecting tubules. At that point, it usually has about the same potassium concentration as plasma. If potassium were removed from the diet, there would remain a minimum obligatory kidney excretion of about 200 mg per day when the serum declines to 3.0–3.5 milliequivalents per liter in about one week, and can never be cut off completely. Because it cannot be cut off completely, death will result when the whole body potassium declines to the vicinity of one-half full capacity. At the end of the processing, potassium is secreted one more time if the serum levels are too high.” – Wright FS, Squires RD (Isn’t it cool how even at the END of life, if no potassium is present… the body will MAKE it- ONE LAST TIME- just in the HOPES that you will be able to gain a new source of it?! Wow GOD!)

Fluoride: Used in treating osteoporosis

“In the higher doses [fluoride] is used to treat osteoporosis, sodium fluoride can cause pain in the legs and incomplete stress fractures when the doses are too high; it also irritates the stomach, sometimes so severely as to cause ulcers. Slow-release and enteric-coated versions of sodium fluoride do not have gastric side effects in any significant way, and have milder and less frequent complications in the bones. In the lower doses used for water fluoridation, the only clear adverse effect is dental fluorosis, which can alter the appearance of children’s teeth during tooth development; this is mostly mild and is unlikely to represent any real effect on aesthetic appearance or on public health.” – National Health and Medical Research Council (Australia) (Large doses of  fluoride are used to treat bone sicknesses, but too much of a good thing can make the body sick. How much honey do we need to consume? Not much, just small doses… hmm, sounds about right!)

Calcium: Not just good for bones it has been used to repair them

“Literature dating back to 975 AD notes that plaster of paris (calcium sulfate), is useful for setting broken bones. It was not isolated until 1808 in England when Sir Humphry Davy electrolyzed a mixture of lime and mercuric oxide. Davy was trying to isolate calcium; when he heard that Swedish chemist Jöns Jakob Berzelius and Pontin prepared calcium amalgam by electrolyzing lime in mercury, he tried it himself. He worked with electrolysis throughout his life and also discovered/isolated sodium, potassium, magnesium, boron and barium. Calcium metal was not available in large scale until the beginning of the 20th century.” (WOW! Plaster of paris was made of calcium sulfate- not only is it good inside our bones, it is so strong it was used to knit bones together!)

“Approximately 99 percent of the body’s calcium is stored in the bones and teeth. The rest of the calcium in the body has other important uses, such as some exocytosis, especially neurotransmitter release, and muscle contraction. In the electrical conduction system of the heart, calcium replaces sodium as the mineral that depolarizes the cell, proliferating the action potential. In cardiac muscle, sodium influx commences an action potential, but during potassium efflux, the cardiac myocyte experiences calcium influx, prolonging the action potential and creating a plateau phase of dynamic equilibrium. Long-term calcium deficiency can lead to rickets and poor blood clotting and in case of a menopausal woman, it can lead to osteoporosis, in which the bone deteriorates and there is an increased risk of fractures.” – Washington DC: The National Academies Press (Not only is calcium good for the bones… it is good for the heart and mind as well- who knew?! GOD that’s who!)

Potassium, fluoride, calcium… oh my! What busy bees!

THE BIBLE: WHAT A SCIENCE LESSON!

It is always amazing to me, how God uses His Word to prove Himself to us. As if we needed proof! For thousands of years we have known that honey was good for our bones, and yet in society unless a “Doctor of Medicine” insists a thing to be true- we tend to not believe it! Makes me wonder… “What came first, the Dr. or God?” Dr. God… that’s who!

“Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.”- Albert Einstein.

Science and God go hand in hand and people who choose to become students of the Bible have learned that the Bible continuously instructs us to do things that are good for our health. In Leviticus, the Bible instructs us to wash our hands before we eat. In Genesis, it instructs us that man was initially designed to eat plants and vegetables as a primary dietary source. In the New Testament, it instructs us to pray and repeatedly cleanse our minds. The list goes on and on! Not only does the Bible educate us on the spiritual level… it shows us HOW we ought to live… literally!

“And he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land,

[even] a land that floweth with milk and honey.” Deut 26:9

GOD DESIRES YOUR HEALTH

What do we know of God and His promises to His people? That He always wants what is best for us. He didn’t just give the Israelites a place to live, He gave them a land FLOWING with “milk and honey”. This meant that to God’s people He was giving them a place to live that was FULL of ongoing health and healing; spirit, mind, body and soul!

  • And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk [that] they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land. Isaiah 7:22
  • And I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites–a land flowing with milk and honey. Exodus 3:17
  • Write on them all the words of this law when you have crossed over to enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, promised you. Deut. 27:3

IN CLOSING

This study was a fun one for me. I love the way that God continues to use science to prove to us that His Word is true. That He is not only Omnipotent (having unlimited power) but He is also Omnipresent (the same today, tomorrow and yesterday a NOW God). For thousands of years God has had revealed to us -IN HIS WORD- that honey is good for us specifically for our bone heath, and for thousands of years God has used science to prove the infallible Word of God, time and time again. My question today is… why WOULDN’T one choose to read it?

My God bless you my friends as you go about your day today spreading the honey of His Word, may He fully equip you as busy bees with the ability to do His work as He has sent you to do it!

“Then he said to me, “Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it.” So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.” Ezekiel 3:3

The Coffee House… Church of the 21rst Century?

“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another–

and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25

WHERE HAVE ALL THE STARBUCKS* GONE?

I never knew how much Starbucks had influenced my life, until I wasn’t around them any more. Oh, that luscious aroma… those warm maroon and beige walls… the soothing music. It does not hurt that my house is less than a mile away from our nearest location, and yes… we know our barista by name- his name is Josh.

I always had thought that I was just an occasional brewtotaller,  able to live without my morning drip. However, when we traveled to Atlanta, Georgia you can imagine my surprise when there were NO Starbucks in sight! Amazed at this non-Starbucks phenomenon, I called my husband and half jokingly said… “Um, where are all the Starbucks in Atlanta?” He reported to me (after doing a google search) “Hey babe, yeah there’s five in Georgia.” WHA?! The entire state!

As you can see, there are quite a few brew houses in the San Jose, Ca area…

WHERE HAVE ALL THE CHURCHES GONE?

Astonished by the significant lack of Starbucks (didn’t see one my entire trip), I did however notice that in Atlanta churches were EVERYWHERE! More frequently spotted than 7-11, in Atlanta there are row after row of churches! Methodist, Baptist, all types of churches! I would venture to say that if you didn’t like your Pastor’s Sunday message, you could just go next door and finish the service from someone else. It was amazing!

It was during this time in Atlanta, as I was noticing no Starbucks = all churches, that I recognized that in California we have no churches = Starbucks. Hmm… have we in California, and as a society, replaced churches with coffee houses such as Starbucks? I am beginning to think so!

DO WE HAVE TO GATHER IN A CHURCH?

So the question I am asking today is… do we have to assemble in a “church”? After all, we are the church. We must assemble, more and more, but if we desire to sip on a slow brewed cup-of-joe as we contemplate the goodness of God… is this wrong?

Friday at one of our nearest Starbucks answered my question. After dropping my husband off at work, I went to the closest Starbucks Coffee house, and as I walked up to the door I saw two men deeply studying their laptop on which read “The Illustrated Sermon”. I walked inside and the place was packed! In addition to the two youths out front studying, there was another group face down in “Spirit-led Christian” literature, and even our barista was wearing a cross around his neck. It felt as if I had walked off the street and into church! Hallelujah!

CHURCH HASN’T GONE AWAY, WE JUST “CHURCH IT” MORE OFTEN!

In case you haven’t noticed, the next generation Christian isn’t the same as before. In these last days, we are seeing more and more boldness of faith and desire for the “Spirit-natural”. Christians are fed up with being “quiet” and as Body we are stepping out and turning out in record numbers. The church we belong to, for example, has 25,000 local members and at least 13 satellite locations! We too host a web-recast church service in our home on Thursday nights- no building required! Just assembly!

It isn’t that we have stopped going to churches- it is that we have started “churching it” more often! Praise God! We as 21rst Century Chrisitans listen to messages via iPod and iPad, we watch sermons on our DVR’s, we attend LIVE web-streaming broadcasts, we know how to watch archive messages, we listen to MP3’s of our favorite sermons! It is a smorgasbord of Word knowledge ready for the whole life experience! There is no excuse anymore for not being in the Word and as we embrace this innovative technology, we as ministers of the Gospel need to lose any preconceived notion of “How it should be”.

Bake sales have been traded for coffee bars, pot lucks have gone ‘lo-cal’, nurseries come complete with security check-out systems and most modern-day churches have replaced the iconic cross symbol with the knowledge that you look to Jesus and He lives INSIDE you.

CHURCH IS OUR SAFE HAVEN

Going to church is pivotal to a Christian’s walk, as it is a safe haven. Submitting yourself to a Pastor and his leadership is not only required, it keeps us accountable. Churches are locations were we as the workers of the Word can go and visit, commune, worship, fellowship and meet other believers. This aspect of Christianity has never changed. However, as scripture tells us, in these last days we must “not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another– and all the more as you see the Day approaching”… and I am here today to encourage my brothers and sisters to get on board and relax in knowing that it is ok if some of this gathering is done in a leather recliner, sipping on a non-fat skinny vanilla latte.

May God bless you friends in ALL your gathering,

Love Always,

Jessica

*I cannot write this article without addressing the fact that there is an association of Christian’s who believe that companies like Starbucks support Non-Christian organizations and agendas. This article is not intended to promote any coffee house in specific, this coffee goer however, prefers to write from experience- and I have chosen to experience Starbucks… a lot. My suggestion (as always) is to do your research, and pray and obey for God’s direction in WHERE you should spend God’s money He has given you.

Who’s a FOOL? NOT YOU!

“I pity da fool …” Mr. T

Your Prosperity in Life is a Result of Your Resistance of Foolishness

We have all felt dumb at times in the past. Looking back on our lives we reflect and say… “Man THAT was stupid!” Hindsight is always 20/20 and in the case of hindsight, I believe that we can all see things that we could improve on moving forward. My question today however isn’t about our past and our ability to forgive ourselves, my question today is are we STILL acting foolish?

The 13 Indicators of Foolish Behavior:

  1. A FOOL despises wisdom & instruction: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7
  2. A FOOL is right in his own eyes [vs going to the Word for instruction]: The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise. Proverbs 12:15
  3. A FOOL makes a mockery of sin [makes light of sin and sinful things]: Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Proverbs 14:9 & Gal 6:7
  4. A FOOL hides hatred with lying and slander [Those with a murmuring spirit will never experience breakthrough]: He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool. Proverbs 10:18
  5. A FOOL speaks perverse and lying things, just for fun [goads/eggs someone on for “a laugh”]: It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom. Proverbs 10:23
  6. A FOOL leans unto his own understanding: He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Proverbs 28:26 & Proverbs 3:5
  7. A FOOL reverses the truth and speaks perverse things [says the opposite of the truth in order to invoke a response example: calling someone “bad” to explain that they are really “good/cool”]: Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool. Proverbs 19:1
  8. A FOOL speaks all that is on his mind [even a revelation that was meant from God- just for them]: A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. Proverbs 29:11
  9. A FOOL walks in darkness: The wise man’s eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all. Eccl 2:14
  10. A FOOL does not pay their vows [Their IOU’S, etc]: When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. Eccl 5:4
  11. A FOOL says there is NO God: The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Psalm 14:1
  12. A FOOL is slow to believe in his heart: Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken. Luke 24:25
  13. A FOOL only operates by what they can see: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

So Who’s a Fool?

Not YOU! Those of us who walk by faith, and know God do NOT do foolish things and act in foolish ways. There are two modes toward prosperity in this world; prosperity according to the “worlds” way of doing things and prosperity according to the “Words” way of doing things. The ways of the world are; lying, cheating, stealing, conniving. The ways of the Word are; obedience, service, sacrifice, and listening to God for direction. The Word says that He “uses the things of the foolish to confound the wise”, and this simply means that when you choose to do right by God the ‘earthly’ men and women may consider you FOOLISH, but the tables are turned with God and you actually end up being the ONLY smart one in the room!

God bless you my friends as you maintain your righteous behavior, and can now more easily SPOT a fool! “A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; [and] a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.” Proverbs 17:4

Put Your Success on Cruise Control and ENJOY THE RIDE

He that hasteth to be rich [hath] an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him. Proverbs 28:22

SUCCESS COMING TOO SLOW?

It seems like an epidemic really, blood bought Christians running around impatiently awaiting the “BIG PAYOUT”, some end-time Glory deposit from the sky that in their minds should just magically appear! Maybe today? Maybe tomorrow?… And yet still it never seems to come. Bills are still due, debt is still there, and every other lacking thing barks as loud as the day before! What is this? WHY DOES WEALTH SEEM TO TAKE SO LONG?

DRIVING ALONG, TAKING THE LEAD

Yesterday, as I was driving to the museum with two of my five children in the car, I was leading my Grandmother to where we needed to go. She was in a van behind me, and as a conscientious driver, I obeyed all the traffic rules and drove what I considered to be “slow” so that she could successfully keep up with me. It was as I was “cruising” that I felt totally relaxed (much like on autopilot) , controlled and safe. It was also at this time that the Lord showed me that our successes in life, in order for them to be truly GREAT are meant to take time- so that ALL others can follow us!

THE VALUE IN SLOWING DOWN

Think about that for a moment… let that last thought sink in.

What is success if we could not teach others how to succeed along with us? What is success without some form of duplication? As I was driving, obeying all the traffic laws and speed limits two things were happening:

  1. I was able to totally relax and enjoy being in “the moment”. Going slowly I was able to smell the air, soak in the sun, feel confident in my leadership capabilities and just COAST. (This is contrary to the ordinary LET’S JUST GET THERE ALREADY!)
  2. The car behind me could successfully get to their destination, thus creating a successful environment for not just ONE car… but TWO.

WE ARE CALLED TO ENJOY THE RIDE

Today’s word is for those who are hastening to be rich. GO GO GO! Has been your motto for WAY too long. Have you ever stopped to think, “Is GO GO GO! Duplicatable?” Perhaps the very key to “success” in your life is not in how quickly you can go from poor to rich, but in how many people you can lead to success along the way!

ENJOY the process, obey the Biblical rules of success, follow the Master in His “Lead car”… Jesus had a caravan of at least 12! Shouldn’t we?

God Bless you my friends as you begin the process of slowing down and setting success on cruise control!

If you are in need of prayer, you can always reach me at jessica@wholeheartedministries.com. We agree with you the the Lord has His will, purpose and plan for your life!
